Children’s lives at risk

A complete overhaul of operations in social services departments was needed because serious flaws were putting children’s lives at risk,

said a report by Lord Laming. Many recommendations in a 2003 report into the death of Victoria Climbie had not been implemented. In a year 55 children in England were murdered by family members or their partners. Some 200,000 children were at high risk of violence or abuse in the home. An estimated 350,000 children had parents with serious drug habits and another 1.3 million had parents with serious drink problems.

Pray for adequate protection for the nation’s children.
