In the late 1950's, David Breese warned our nation about the threat of a Communist takeover. We are also being challenged today by those who would like to defeat us.

Dr. William R. Bright, Founder and President of Campus Crusade for Christ, wrote the following letter to the Board of Directors of National Religious Broadcasters in the year 2000.

"My dear fellow members of NRB:

"Recently, NRB President Dr. Brandt Gustavson asked me to write a letter to you expressing my concerns about the state of our country and the church. This letter is a call for radical commitment from God's people. Please hear my heart cry. As key leaders in Christian media, God has placed you in a rare and privileged position.

"America is in danger of losing not only its freedom but also its very soul. You already know the internal danger -- the downward, anti-God cultural trend we have witnessed in our nation over the past few decades. But there also lurks an external danger: rogue nations and fanatical terrorists who passionately hate us now have weapons of mass destruction, just one of which could kill millions of people and greatly affect our economy and security.

"I believe the sharp sword of God's judgment is hanging precipitously over America (see Deuteronomy chapters 8 and 28). The choice for the nation is clear: revival or perish. Only God can save us. We all know that, but my major concern is the deplorable, decadent condition of the body of Christ. Surveys by George Barna and George Gallup reveal the unbelief, disobedience, impotency and powerlessness of much of the modern-day church. The problem is that many believers have lost their first love and become Laodicean. What we see in society is our fault for not being salt and light, for not praying and witnessing, for not living, loving and serving in the power of the Holy Spirit as faithful ambassadors of our great God and Savior.

"We need a radical revolution of faith and commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord Himself was the greatest revolutionary in history. We must emulate Him. He only did what the Father did. He only spoke what the Father spoke. He was totally Spirit-motivated. The body of Christ needs a revitalized understanding of who He is, His majesty, and that we must serve Him 'with thankful hearts and with holy fear and awe. For our God is a consuming fire' (Hebrews 12:28-29). We need a new and radical recommitment to Him.

"God is calling us to be completely dead to self and alive to Christ in the Spirit (Mark 8:34-35); to be obedient (I John 2:3-6, John 14:21-23); and to radically love one another (John 15:12-14).

"This is the revolution we need. If all true believers in the Lord Jesus Christ would radically act upon these principles, we could save our nation and turn the world upside down, just as the early apostles did.

"I urge you to strongly and continuously communicate this message by weaving it creatively in various ways throughout your broadcast schedule to your vast audiences. Pray for creative strategies to help restore the believers of our Lord Jesus Christ to the highest biblical standards. Let us commit together to use our Association and its meetings to share our methods and messages so that we can form a united front, intent on one goal: to call the Church and your listeners to holiness, love and obedience so that the world might know him.

"Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns, Bill Bright"

Dr. Bright wrote prophetically to our nation and the church. Those who seek our destruction surround us and many within our borders also want the United States to be something we have never been.
